Any of those is reason enough to come in.

  • Your child's dentist keeps saying "let's watch that crowding," and you would like an actual answer.
  • Your seven-year-old's front teeth came in crooked and you are not sure if it matters yet.
  • Your middle schooler is the last one in the friend group without braces.
  • You have wanted Invisalign for years and want a straight answer on cost and time first.

Braces, Invisalign and Early Treatment Near Glen Allen

Every plan starts the same way: an exam, X-rays if they are needed, and a conversation about what you want before anyone recommends anything. You hear every option that fits your bite, including the ones that cost less.

Metal and ceramic braces

Metal brackets handle crowding, gaps and bite problems at any age. Ceramic brackets do the same work in a tooth-colored material that is harder to spot.

Invisalign in Glen Allen: Invisalign and Spark aligners

Clear, removable trays for teens and adults who will wear them 20 to 22 hours a day. We offer both brands, so the choice comes down to your case.

How Invisalign works

Early treatment at age seven

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age seven. Most kids hear "come back in a year." The few who need a short first phase, often an expander, get it while the jaw is still growing.

Phase 1 treatment

Braces for kids and teens in Glen Allen

Middle and high school is when most full treatment happens. We talk through sports, band instruments and mouthguards first, and teens get a say in braces versus aligners.

Orthodontics for teens

Adult braces and aligners in Glen Allen

Healthy teeth move at any age. Ceramic braces or clear aligners keep treatment discreet at work, and many parents start their own treatment at the office their kids already go to.

Adult orthodontics

Airway and bite check

If your child snores, breathes through their mouth or has a narrow upper jaw, every free consultation includes a look at the airway. We tell you what we see and what, if anything, to do about it.

What Braces and Invisalign Cost in Glen Allen

Most braces cases in the Richmond area run $3,000 to $7,000. Ceramic braces and clear aligners tend to start a little higher. Your actual number comes out of the free consultation, in writing, before anything is scheduled.

When you compare quotes, ask what the fee covers. Ours includes all three of these:

Repair visitsThe day the braces come offYour first retainers

Flexible financing spreads the fee out, and our team can check what your dental insurance covers for orthodontics. Virginia's Cardinal Care Smiles program covers braces for members under 21 only when a case is approved as medically necessary, which is decided case by case.

Glen Allen Orthodontist FAQs

The questions Glen Allen families ask us most often.

Do you have an orthodontist office in Glen Allen?

Not inside Glen Allen itself. Our closest orthodontic offices are Short Pump at 12270 West Broad Street, Patterson Avenue at 8503 Patterson Avenue, and Mechanicsville at 7521 Right Flank Road (Tuesdays only). Most of Glen Allen is 8 to 15 minutes from Short Pump.

How much do braces cost in Glen Allen?

Most Richmond-area braces cases run $3,000 to $7,000, depending on the bite and the type of treatment. You get your exact fee in writing at the free consultation, before anything is scheduled.

Is $6,000 a lot for braces?

It sits inside the normal Richmond range, so it is not unusual on its own. What matters is what it includes, like repairs, the removal appointment and retainers. At RPDO, all three are in the fee.

Can I pay for braces monthly?

Yes. Flexible financing spreads the fee out over time. See our financing options for details, or ask at your free consult.

Does Virginia Medicaid pay for braces?

Sometimes, for children. Virginia's Cardinal Care Smiles program lists braces for members under 21 only when they are approved, which means the case has to meet the state's medical necessity criteria. That is decided case by case. Our team can help you understand where your child stands.

Do I need a referral to see an orthodontist?

No. You can book a free consultation directly with us, for your child or for yourself.

Should I see an orthodontist or a dentist for Invisalign?

Many general dentists offer Invisalign. An orthodontist has two to three more years of specialty training in moving teeth and correcting bites, which matters most when the case involves more than straightening the front teeth.

Am I too old for braces?

No. Adults make up a big share of orthodontic patients, and age alone does not rule anyone out. We check your gum health first, then talk through your options so treatment fits your work and your life.

Are clear aligners as effective as braces?

For many cases, yes, when they are worn 20 to 22 hours a day. Some bite problems still move more predictably with braces. At your free consult the orthodontist tells you which ones fit your case, and why.

When should my child first see an orthodontist?

By age seven, per the American Association of Orthodontists. Most seven-year-olds do not need treatment yet, and we will tell you when that is the case.

Which office opens earliest?

Patterson Avenue opens at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, so a wire check can happen before school or work. Mechanicsville sees orthodontic patients on Tuesdays only, starting at 7:30 a.m.

Can my kids and I be treated at the same practice?

Yes. We treat kids, teens and adults, and many parents start their own aligners at the office their kids already go to.
