She views each child as unique and believes it is her responsibility to build lasting, trusting relationships with families while supporting both their oral and overall health. Her goal is not only to treat teeth, but to help children grow in confidence and feel proud of their smiles.
A Strong Academic and Clinical Foundation
Dr. Rachel Thornton’s journey to pediatric dentistry is marked by academic excellence and top-tier training. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Minor in Medical Humanities from Washington University in St. Louis, where she began to connect her love of science, language and healthcare.
She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Marquette University School of Dentistry and then completed her advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Yale New Haven Hospital—one of the country’s most respected pediatric training programs. During her time there, she served as Chief Resident, a recognition of her leadership, clinical skill and commitment to patient care.
Dr. Rachel Thornton’s education has equipped her to provide evidence-based, comprehensive pediatric dental care, and her real passion lies in ensuring that every child has access to that care—regardless of background or barriers.
A Heart for Education and Access
Dr. Rachel Thornton enjoys patient education and expanding access to care, and she’s fluent in the language of empathy. She speaks basic Spanish and is committed to making every child and family feel understood and supported. Her communication style is approachable and clear—whether she’s explaining brushing techniques to a three-year-old or answering a parent’s questions about treatment options.

A Bit About Dr. Thornton
Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Rachel Thornton immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland with her family when she was four years old. She’s the oldest of three siblings and has always embraced leadership, whether at home, in school, or in the dental office.
Outside of work, Dr. Rachel Thornton enjoys going to the beach, playing frisbee with her golden retriever, Louie, and curating music playlists for every mood. She loves exploring interior design, trying new snacks at Trader Joe’s and traveling to new places. And did we mention she holds a second-degree black belt in karate? She brings that same discipline, focus and calm energy to her work with children every day.
