Parents, please pay close attention if your kids use Crest or Arm & Hammer Spinbrush electric toothbrushes.
The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning that the cleaning head can break off and cause injury to the mouth and gums, or a choking hazard.
From the AAPD website:
Reports warned that while turned on, the brush head has either “popped off” or broken off in the user’s mouth or near the face, causing cuts to the mouth and gums, chipped or broken teeth, swallowing and choking on the broken pieces, and injuries to the face and eyes.
While this warning is specific to the Spinbrush, care should be taken with all electric toothbrushes. We promote the use of Sonicare For Kids electric toothbrushes, which has no known warnings. Parents and kids should always follow the instructions and regularly inspect the equipment for potential problems.
