Invisalign® is a great choice for our patients who are searching for a more discreet orthodontic treatment option. Rather than using metal brackets and wires like traditional braces, the Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made, computer-generated plastic aligners to straighten your smile. Each set of aligners is designed to make small changes to the alignment of the teeth. As you switch sets of aligners about every two weeks, your teeth will be gradually, gently guided to their proper positions. You will also visit our office on a regular basis during treatment to make certain that your smile is progressing as planned.
In general, Invisalign can be used to treat many of the same orthodontic issues that are normally treated with braces. Our orthodontist may recommend Invisalign to correct:
During your initial visit, we will determine whether you are a good candidate for Invisalign. This treatment is often a good choice for teen and adult patients who are interested in a virtually invisible orthodontic treatment.
In addition to being discreet, Invisalign aligners are also very comfortable because they are custom made from smooth, thin plastic. The aligners are removable as well, which allows you to easily remove them as needed in order to eat, brush, and floss.
When our orthodontists provide your Invisalign® treatment, they use the advanced iTero® scanning device to take digital impressions of your mouth. These impressions are then used to fabricate the aligners used in your treatment.
The iTero scanner is a state-of-the-art dental device that allows our doctors to capture three-dimensional images of the inside of your mouth. This technology can capture up to 20 images per second in full color, allowing us to create your Invisalign® clear aligners with a more accurate fit, and ultimately providing you with much more beautiful results. With iTero technology, our orthodontists can even simulate your treatment outcome to show you what your smile will look like! When we scan your mouth, our orthodontists use a small wand. This wand is continuous moved inside your mouth to capture 3D images, which are processed simultaneously to provide a highly accurate picture of your teeth and supporting structures. The iTero device automatically saves the images every 2 seconds, so you have no need to worry about a glitch causing you to sit through a second scan.
