As many of you have noticed, we have some pretty cool aquariums in our office – one in the front waiting area and one back where the patients can enjoy while having their teeth cleaned. They are both salt water tanks – some with fish that are over five years old!
Over the years, we’ve gotten a lot of questions from our patients and parents. Here are the most common questions, but if you have more please leave a comment!
What kinds of fish do we have?
Our fish are from all over the world, and some you might even recognize from cartoons and movies!
- Angelfish
- Damselfish
- Wrasses
- Convict Blenny (Engineer Goby)
- Rabbitfishes
- Surgeon Fishes (Resembles Dori from Finding Nemo)
- Triggerfish
- Starfish
Who feeds the fish?
Our very own Dr. Carl. He has a very regimented routine in the morning when he comes into work. After changing into his work shirt and pants for the day, he feeds all the fish in the tanks before he starts to see his first patients of the day. The fish eat mysis shrimp and emerald entrée. YUM!
Who cleans the tanks?
Our good friend Kerri comes to the office every two weeks to clean the tanks and make sure everything is clean and in order. Kerri works for Sea Clear Aquariums as a part-time job in addition to her talent as an artist where she paints very colorful and outstanding pictures of people’s pets. Take a look at her amazing artwork at barkNart.com. We love when Kerri comes to take care of our fish and she’s very good at her job!
Where is Kerri’s favorite aquarium?
Gatlinburg, Tennessee’s, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. It has the longest tunnel aquarium she’s ever seen! Here’s a video of the penguins that swim over, under, and around the clear glass tunnel!
